Humanitarian & Learning Projects

NXNE participates in humanitarian projects in all the countries that we work, and encourage you to contribute in any which way you can - whether by donating money, labor, expertise, or supplies. Current projects are listed below, but if you would like to contribute in your own special way, please don't hesitate to contact us with your ideas.

GENERAL NOTE : NXNE can incorporate humanitarian activity into any of our current itineraries. When filling out a booking form, simply let us know what you have in mind.

NOTE TO SCHOOLS AND ORGANIZATIONS : Because of strong grass-roots relationships in the areas that we work, NXNE encourages and designs group learning projects that give back to local communities. In addition to hands-on learning about the history, environment, culture and peoples of your host country, your group can do meaningful work that immediately effect the lives of the people you visit.

CURRENT PROJECTS

Adopt-a-Village
One of NXNE's specialties is taking people to out of the way and unusual destinations. This means we sometimes travel through very remote areas. Village needs in such remote and inaccessible locations are many, and very basic.

Today there are over a dozen villages in the Central Laos Limestone that require assistance in a variety of ways. The most pressing needs in all the villages we pass or visit can basically be summed up as follows: Simple medical assistance - aspirin, antibiotics, anti-malarial medicine are just a few examples. School supplies - schools here are rarely more than a wooden shack with a dirt floor. Some do not even have a blackboard. None of the children we have met in the limestone area villages had pencils, notepads, paper or school uniforms... all of which are mandatory according to the government policy. Sporting equipment - all children love to play ball of one kind or another. No village we have visited had a soccer ball or any such equipment.

If you would like to contribute to this cause, please contact us with your ideas.
