Bangkok to Chiang Mai. In Northern Thailand, witness

1 : Bangkok - Ayuthaya
- Lopburi - Phitsanuloke |
| In
early morning your guide will pick you up from your
hotel. Your first visit is the Summer Palace in Bang
Pa-In of King Rama V. After a scenic walk through
the green park, continue on to the ancient capital
of Ayuthaya to visit the ancient ruins. This town,
an ancient capital of Thailand from the 14th to the
18th centuries, was sacked by the Burmese, and then
taken over again by the Thais! This was the last location
of the capital before the government based itself
in Bangkok. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant.
After lunch, journey through scenic
countryside to Lopburi to see the sacred Three Spires
Pagoda. Look out for monkeys all around this ancient
city! Continue on to Phitsanuloke for overnight.

2 : Phitsanuloke - Sukhothai - Chiang
Rai |
| After
breakfast, proceed to the ancient city of Sukhothai.
Enjoy walking through the Historical Park many of
which have been restored now by the Thai Fine Arts
Department. This ancient capital preceded the later
Ayuthaya period, and one can tell because the architecture
is markedly different. Then drive to Sri Satchanalai,
the northern outpost town of the Sukhothai kingdom.
Lunch at a local restaurant.
Journey onward to the northern
city of Chiang Rai. On the way, enjoy the spectacular
montane scenery.

3 : Chiang Rai - Golden
Triangle - Chiang Rai |
| After
breakfast, proceed to Mae Chan and visit Akha and
Yao Hilltribe villages. Drive to Mae Sai, the northern-most
town in Thailand, located on the Burmese border. Lunch
in a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, visit the famous
Golden Triangle, where the Ruak and Mekong Rivers
meet. From the top of the hill you can see the countries
of Laos and Myanmar. Drive back to Chiang Rai. Evening
at leisure.

4 : Chiang Rai - Chiang
Mai |
| After
breakfast at hotel, check out and head for Chiang
Mai, often called the “Rose of the North”. Stop along
the way at Mae Ka Chan hot springs. Lunch at local
restaurant.
Arrive in Chiang Mai and drive on
a very scenic mountain road to visit Wat Doi Suthep
on top of Doi Suthep Mountain.
In the evening, enjoy a traditional
northern Kantoke Dinner and experience a northern
dancing performance.

5 : Chiang Mai |
| After
Breakfast at hotel, drive to Mae Rim to visit an Elephant
Camp and witness elephants at work. Then continue
on to an Orchid and Butterfly farm. Also visit Rukachati
National Park to see a picturesque waterfall. Lunch
in a local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit the
handicraft village of San Khampaeng. Here you will
witness how Thai Silk and other traditional items
are produced.
